Accreditation by an external educational body is one of the most important considerations when choosing a TESOL/TEFL course. There a number of non-accredited programs, mini-courses, and other short courses (<100 hours) that should be avoided if you wish to gain a TESOL/TEFL qualification that is recognised worldwide.

As the leading provider of quality TEFL/TESOL courses across the world, INTESOL is proud to be accredited by OCNW. This means that following our program, your TEFL/TESOL qualifications are part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and are recognised worldwide!

The Awarding Body for your TESOL qualification is of paramount importance, and you should consider it carefully. OCNW is a unique organisation, enjoying the status of a National Awarding Body (NAB), approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and an Authorised Validating Agency (AVA), licensed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA).

What does this mean to you?

  • It means your training is of the highest quality.
  • It means your course fits into the National Qualifications Framework (NQF), a requirement often asked for by potential employers worldwide.
  • It means your course work is externally moderated.
  • It means you will receive 2 certificates, one from INTESOL and one from OCNW with no extra expense to you.
  • It means that you will receive a Course Transcript with your qualification.

OCNW BACKGROUND

OCNW was established in 1975 as a partnership scheme between universities and colleges of further education. It was the very first ‘Open College’ and its initial aim was to provide innovative Access to Higher Education Qualifications for adult learners. Over the past thirty years the membership has increased significantly and the portfolio of qualifications has expanded to include a wide range of curriculum areas.

Throughout this period, OCNW has maintained its independence in order to ensure that it can continue to respond promptly to the requirements of its customers and provide a consistently high standard of service.

OCNW is distinctive in that it is both:

A National Awarding Body, approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA)

and

An Authorised Validating Agency for ‘Access to Higher Education’ Programmes, licensed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)

OCNW is an unincorporated association of its members institutions and is governed by a Board, supported by three committees:

  • Quality Standards
  • Finance and General Purposes
  • Access Co-ordinators

satisfied that the service you – the client and learner – receive from INTESOL will be of high quality.

ODLQC accreditation is awarded only after a rigorous assessment, by independent experts. This ensures that INTESOL meets the Standards set by the Council. Accredited institutions are re-assessed annually.

ODLQC was established in 1969 by a joint government/private sector initiative. It is the national body,
which assesses quality in open and distance learning in the UK. Its role is to recognise quality of
service through its accreditation, and to protect the interests of open and distance learners.
